Heart, Motherhood

twelve months | one year

You turned one yesterday, and I can hardly believe it!

You’ve grown so much over the past twelve months; from a curled up newborn, to the chubbiest baby and now you’re already stretching out into a toddler. You’re so active now; the days sleepy little newborn days are long gone.

This past month you’ve completely mastered crawling and you like carry something with you when you’re on the move – usually a little wood block. You’ve now cut 8 teeth, including two molars (ouch!), and your dirty blonde hair is definitely in need of a trim – I just can’t bring myself to do it yet.

You love to give smiles, hugs and cuddles, along with the occasional kiss. You wave at everyone whenever we go out, you give the best high fives and clap your hands with a huge scrunchy faced smile when you’re excited. This past month you’ve also learned to dance, and you do it at pretty much any opportunity you get. And by dance I mean that you kind of bounce up and down with a huge smile. I absolutely love it when you dance.

Mealtime and bath time are two of your favourite things. If I let you eat in the bath, I don’t think you’d ever get out. You absolutely love anything and everything to do with water. Giving Roxy kisses is another common occurrence in our home – you like to crawl around and then come back to her for some kisses and snuggles.

You’re babbling more and more and I can’t wait to learn what you’re trying to say. Or what your first word will be (Mama is a great choice!). You’re ticklish and you love to chase people around. You can pull yourself up and balance with no hands, but you haven’t taken any unsupported steps yet.

In honour of your first birthday, I wanted to take some pictures of you with a single blue balloon. To say that I love these pictures would be an understatement. I think it’s going to be a tradition I recreate each year.
