boats, dolphins & secret coves

When we finally had a calm enough day, we took the boat out for a tour of the Sea of Cortez. Somebody LOVED the boat.

The ocean surrounding Loreto is part of a huge nature conservancy that’s just full of wildlife. Not only are the views stunning, but you just might see some rays, whales or dolphins while you’re out. As luck would have it, we saw a small pod of dolphins!

They weren’t shy either, and came right up to the side of our boat. They were so close I felt like I could have reached out and touched them. (Can you spot the dolphins under water in the foreground?) They hung around for about 15 minutes, checking us out before disappearing under water.

Now it was time to find the perfect beach for a swim.

We ended up at a place locally known as “Honeymoon Bay”. It was like something out of a postcard.

After a long day of fun in the water and under the hot sun, we headed home for a nap.

I don’t think I ever want to go back home to Ottawa.
