36 week bumpdate
This past week has probably been the most eventful, pregnancy-wise, since our gender reveal. On Tuesday night – after a day of overdoing it with chasing Luke around an indoor playground, laundry, cleaning, etc. – I ended up giving myself contractions and we headed to the hospital to make sure it wasn’t showtime (even though I was 99% sure it wasn’t). Turns out that I was right and everything was good, baby boy is healthy as a horse, so we got sent home.
Please excuse the tired, I’m-36-weeks-pregnant smile in these photos. It makes for long and tiring days chasing after a 19 month old.
How far along? 36 weeks (wait, what?!)
Baby is now the size of: A head of romaine lettuce – is it just me or does that sound huge?
Gender: A boy!
Maternity clothes? Yep!
Movement: Huge flips and rolls and often a very misshapen belly, depending on where he is lying.
Food cravings: Ice capps (what’s new there?), pasta and tons of water.
Food aversions: None this week!
Favorite meal this week: Curtis was out one evening and I made my grown up version of a childhood favourite: bowtie noodles in garlic and olive oil, and then just covered in cheese. It was outstanding and I ate way too much of it.
Emotional moment this week: On Tuesday night we ended up going to the hospital because I was having contractions/pain around the baby belly (turns out I need to remember I’m really pregnant and not try to carry laundry up and down the stairs…). I was emotional because I didn’t get to have the moment of closure/of saying goodbye to Luke as my only child beforehand. You better believe that boy of mine got extra cuddles the next morning.
Best moment this week: Perk of being in the hospital and doing a non-stress test: getting to sit and listen to baby boy’s heartbeat for over an hour. AND the crib and dresser have been assembled and are in the nursery. We just need to hang up some art and put away the rest of the baby clothes (and maybe buy some new ones since I love nothing more than shopping for teeny tiny clothes!).
Labour signs? I guess I have to say yes this week, but they had thankfully disappeared by the following morning.
Belly button in or out? Out!
Wedding rings off or on? On.
Looking forward to: Seeing the bean at our ultrasound on Wednesday morning and hearing his heartbeat at the doctor’s on Friday.
